MGM+ Greenlights ‘The Black Tapes’ With ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as a Skeptic Haunted by Cases He Can’t Explain

MGM+ has ordered ‘The Black Tapes’ as an eight-episode supernatural investigation series starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, based on the 2015 horror podcast by Terry Miles and Paul Bae that has over 60 million downloads. Coster-Waldau plays Dr. Richard Strand, a brilliant psychiatrist with a mysterious past who teams with an obsessed scientist named Alex to debunk paranormal cases, and Miles, Bae and John Rogers write the adaptation. Production starts in Vancouver in January 2027, with release planned on MGM+ in the US, UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Latin America, though no premiere date has been announced.
