‘World War Z’ Sequel Is Finally Happening After More Than a Decade of False Starts

World War Z (2013) is a Brad Pitt-led action-horror film about former UN investigator Gerry Lane traveling the world to find a solution to a rapidly spreading zombie apocalypse.
Despite major production problems, rewrites, reshoots, and a ballooning budget, the film was a commercial success, earning more than $540 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing zombie film at the time.
A sequel was announced soon after, cancelled in 2019 amid budget concerns and China’s ban on zombie films, and ultimately revived in 2026.
