Tara Reid, best known for her role in the “American Pie” films, was taken to a hospital early Sunday morning after being seen on a stretcher at a Chicago-area hotel, according to video obtained by TMZ.

The 50-year-old actress appeared dazed and confused as hotel staff helped her into a wheelchair in the lobby.

A spokesperson for Rosemont Public Safety confirmed to PEOPLE that a call was made for an ambulance at 12:39 a.m. on Nov. 23 from the DoubleTree hotel for “a sick person,” and that Reid was transported to a hospital.

In footage from the incident, one hotel staff member can be heard telling Reid, “We’re going to take you to your room, okay?” as she struggled to stay steady and seemed disoriented.

Later, paramedics arrived and helped Reid onto a stretcher before taking her out of the hotel. An onlooker told TMZ that Reid could be heard saying, “You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress,” while waiting for medical help.

Reid claims she believes her drink was tampered with during her visit to the hotel bar. She told TMZ that she had left her drink unattended while stepping away to smoke, only to return and find it covered with a napkin. Reid says she was unconscious for eight hours afterward.

Her representative issued a statement saying, “Tara Reid has filed a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with. She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time. She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.”

Rosemont police confirmed that they received a call for a sick person at the hotel but have not confirmed any claims of drugging.

This incident has prompted Reid to remind the public to stay vigilant about their drinks. “Always watch your drinks and never leave them unattended,” she said, highlighting the dangers of drink tampering.
