Tarantino Shares the Best Film He’s Ever Made and His Personal Favorite
Quentin Tarantino recently appeared on the Church of Tarantino podcast, where he opened up about which of his movies and scripts he thinks are the best. The legendary director, known for films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Django Unchained, gave honest and clear answers when asked about his favorites.
When it comes to the best movie he has ever made, Tarantino didn’t hesitate. “I guess Inglourious Basterds is the best film I’ve made,” he said. But even though he called Basterds his masterpiece, he also shared which movie he personally loves the most. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favourite, but I think that Kill Bill is the ultimate Quentin movie. Like nobody else could have made it. Every aspect about it is so particularly ripped, with tentacles and bloody tissue from my imagination and passions and my obsessions. So I think Kill Bill is the movie I was born to make. I think Inglourious Basterds is like my masterpiece but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my fave.”
Tarantino explained that each of these films represents a different side of his creativity. Inglourious Basterds is the movie he considers technically perfect, while Kill Bill captures the pure, unique style that only he could create. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sits closest to his heart, reflecting his personal love for storytelling and film history.
The conversation then moved to scripts, where Tarantino again had strong opinions. He said that Inglourious Basterds is his best-written script. “I think Inglourious Basterds is my best script, and I mean Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are right behind it,” he said. He also highlighted the unique qualities of his other work. “I mean Kill Bill is a really good script but that’s all about the filming. I think that’s my technical script, but I think there’s an aspect of Hateful Eight that I actually think is probably the best directing on my material.”
Fans of Tarantino will find his answers fascinating because they show how he views his own career. While he plans to retire after his tenth movie, he clearly takes pride in the films he has already made. By his own words, Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are the films that define his style, talent, and passion.
