Tatyana Ali Looks Amazing 35 Years After ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Made Her a Star
Tatyana Ali has been a familiar face on screens for most of her life. She started on Sesame Street as a young child and rose to fame as Ashley Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which aired from 1990 to 1996. Fans who grew up with the show watched her grow up right alongside the character.
Now 46, Ali continues to impress with her style and poise. Recently, she celebrated Spirit Day with GLAAD, posting a selfie in a lavender suit with her hair pulled back. When a fan commented that she “looked very presidential in this pic,” Ali replied, “definitely look like I’m running for office.”
After the show ended, Ali didn’t disappear. She finished high school, earned a degree from Harvard, and continued her career. This year, she opened up about a challenging experience on the set of the 1999 film Jawbreaker. She shared on social media, “I was the only one actually in high school when we shot this, and I dealt with a little bullying on set from one actress in particular… and @rosemcgowan told her to [shut up] in front of everybody! I will always love her for that!” Rose McGowan responded, “❤️ I’d do it again ❤️.”
Ali also reunited with Will Smith earlier this year in a viral dance trend inspired by the original Fresh Prince pilot. The short clip brought back a sense of nostalgia for fans, complete with a Walkman cameo.
Motherhood has also played a big role in Ali’s life. She shares two sons, Edward Aszard Rasberry, 9, and Alejandro Vaughn Rasberry, 7, with her husband Dr. Vaughn Rasberry. After a difficult first birth and time in the NICU, she found support through the Black Mamas Matter Alliance and comfort in sewing. T
his led to the creation of her brand, Baby Yams. Ali told First For Women, “My son ended up in the NICU for four days because of what happened in the hospital.” Last year, she launched 50 handmade blankets using fabric sourced from Ghana. The blankets sold out, and she donated all proceeds to help train midwives and doulas.
Tatyana Ali’s journey shows that she has grown into a strong, talented, and compassionate woman while staying connected to her roots. She continues to inspire with her work, style, and commitment to giving back.
