Taylor Swift addressed her critics during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, responding to those who think she should step back from the spotlight.

The 35-year-old singer reflected on her career, the advice she values, and the personal milestones that have made 2025 a memorable year.

Speaking about the people she trusts for guidance, Swift highlighted the importance of consistency and long-term success. “Career longevity, friendship longevity, longevity in their relationships,” she explained. “‘How do you keep a good thing going?’ I think there are certain corners of our society that really love that and look up to longevity.”

Swift also acknowledged that not everyone shares the same view. She said some critics believe others should have a chance to shine instead. “There are also corners that are like, ‘Give someone else a turn. Can’t you just go away so that we can talk about how good you were?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t want to.’”

She named Stevie Nicks, Max Martin, and her fiancé Travis Kelce as her main sources of advice, adding, “I can talk to him about any of this.” Swift reflected on her year as positive, pointing to her engagement and reclaiming her masters as highlights she once thought were unlikely. “I’m so grateful for both of those things happening,” she said.

Swift and Kelce revealed their engagement in August through a joint Instagram post. Their relationship began after he attended one of her Eras Tour shows.

Taylor Swift continues to show she’s confident in her career and personal choices, unapologetically embracing her success. Do you think she handled her critics well? Share your thoughts in the comments.
