Taylor Zakhar Perez Ignites VMAN with Fierce New Cover Look
Taylor Zakhar Perez, the breakout star of Red, White & Royal Blue, is back on screens as Alex Claremont-Diaz in the sequel Red, White & Royal Wedding. The 2026 follow-up reunites Perez with Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Prince Henry, continuing the story of the beloved power couple. The sequel is directed by Jamie Babbit, known for But I’m a Cheerleader, bringing a fresh perspective to the film.
Speaking to VMAN, Perez described returning to the role as “reuniting with an old friend.” He said the character has grown since the first film, now facing new challenges in love, career, and life. “It’s not about recreating the magic; it’s about honoring how these wildly ambitious characters would realistically evolve,” Perez explained.
He also shared that working with co-stars Nicholas Galitzine and Rachel Hilson feels seamless, and that Uma Thurman, who is part of the cast, has been an inspiring on-set partner.

Perez praised director Jamie Babbit for creating an environment that allows actors to explore their characters fully. “Jamie always wants to be in service of the truth of the world,” he said. Perez explained that Alex is now more confident and settled in his identity, no longer focused on hiding or figuring out his sexuality.
Beyond acting, Perez is increasingly stepping behind the camera. He is producing several upcoming projects, including an adaptation of an Ali Hazelwood novel, the film The Silver State, and a sports project with the team behind AIR. “Producing is where I’m really stretching myself these days, and honestly, it’s one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done,” he shared.
On handling fame after Red, White & Royal Blue, Perez admitted it was intense. The Emmy nomination and subsequent awards campaign exposed him to a new level of attention. “It definitely forced me to get crystal clear on my boundaries, to keep protecting my peace, and to trust that the only voice worth listening to consistently is my own,” he said.
Romance has been a central part of Perez’s career so far, with films like The Kissing Booth and Red, White & Royal Blue. However, he expressed a desire to explore other genres. “I want range: deep character studies, taut thrillers, grounded dramas that push me into new territory,” he said.
Perez’s return as Alex promises fans a mix of nostalgia and growth, while his expanding work behind the scenes shows his ambition to shape his own creative path.
It’s exciting to see Perez balancing a successful acting career with producing projects that challenge him creatively. His journey shows how actors can take control of their careers while still honoring roles that made them famous.
