A new teaser for “The Conjuring: Last Rites” has just been released, giving fans a taste of what could be the scariest chapter yet. This movie is the fourth and possibly final film in the main “Conjuring” series, and it’s set to arrive in theaters on September 5, 2025. New Line Cinema dropped the teaser, and it’s packed with creepy moments designed to make you jump.

The story is set in 1986 and follows the return of paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren, played once again by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. This time, they face a horrifying evil connected to one of their old cases. Michael Chaves is back in the director’s chair after directing the last film, “The Devil Made Me Do It.”

Since the first “Conjuring” movie in 2013, the franchise has grown into what’s now called the Conjuring Universe, spawning hits like “Annabelle” and “The Nun.” Even 2019’s “The Curse of La Llarona,” while not officially part of the series, has the same haunted tone.

Writers Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick worked on the script, which is inspired by the real-life cases of the Warrens. James Wan, who co-wrote the original “Conjuring” story, returned to help shape the film and is producing with Peter Safran.

The cast also includes Mia Tomlinson as Judy Warren, the Warrens’ daughter, and Ben Hardy as her boyfriend Tony Spera. In a past interview with Empire magazine, Chaves hinted that this movie’s ending is something special, saying, “This has a very unique ending to The Conjuring films. I would be excited to see where it could go from here.” Farmiga also said she would be happy to continue in the role, adding, “Oh my God, I’d love to [continue]. It’s interesting, we have to up the fear in each one. Demonology is already so high-pitched and operatic.”

Production took place in London between September and November 2024, with some big changes behind the scenes. Benjamin Wallfisch is handling the music, replacing Joseph Bishara, who scored the first three films. Wallfisch previously worked on “Annabelle: Creation.”

“The Conjuring: Last Rites” looks set to bring all the classic scares fans expect while closing out the Warrens’ main story. Whether it truly ends here or not, horror fans will find out when it hits theaters this September.
