The upcoming DCEU movie The Flash is just around the corner, and Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios really need a win with this one after commercial disappointments with Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Although The Flash is one of the last three DCEU movies, everyone at WBD and DC believes this is the movie that can pull off a massive commercial result, which DCEU hasn’t seen since the original Aquaman movie in 2018.

The Flash movie was already presented at CinemaCon last month, although some reports say that CinemaCon didn’t show the movie’s final cut. Early screenings of the movie started these days, and lucky individuals are already sharing their thoughts while the rest of the fans around the world are still waiting for the worldwide theatrical distribution on June 16, 2023. With the movie just around the corner, WB and DC revealed the final trailer, which also brought up some surprises.

Ben Affleck’s Batman returns, and his loyal butler as well!

It’s been known for a long time that Ben Affleck will reprise the role of DCEU’s Batman for one last time in The Flash. And today, the final trailer confirmed that Jeremy Irons’ Alfred Pennyworth also returns in the upcoming movie starring Ezra Miller in the title role. You can watch the trailer below.

James Gunn Calls ‘The Flash’ His Favorite Movie of the Year

Many veteran actors portrayed Alfred Pennyworth on the big screen. Michael Gough played Alfred in the first Batman movie series starring Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney. Although three different actors played Batman in that first franchise, the Alfred actor remained the same. Michael Caine played Alfred in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy starring Christian Bale, and Andy Serkis plays Alfred in Matt Reeves’ Bat-verse, which began last year with The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.

Jeremy Irons first played Alfred Pennyworth in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he reprised the role in 2017’s Justice League, including the director’s cut Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which was released in 2021. Irons didn’t try to hide that he didn’t enjoy reshooting Justice League with Joss Whedon, calling the movie’s theatrical cut “dreadful.” But it looks like Christina Hodson’s script for The Flash managed to bring him back alongside Ben Affleck.

Apart from the main actor Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck is the most-known DCEU star to return in The Flash. The movie will also see the return of Michael Shannon as General Zod and Antje Traue as Faora-Ul from 2013’s Man of Steel. Michael Keaton also returns as the Batman from the first Batman franchise, and Sasha Calle will debut as the new live-action Supergirl.

From the first reactions we’ve read so far, many who have seen The Flash already have nothing but words of praise for it, with some of them calling it one of the best DC movies ever made. We honestly can’t wait to see it for ourselves.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay written by Christina Hodson, The Flash will hit theaters worldwide on June 16, 2023.
