Amanda Seyfried has built a life far removed from the typical Hollywood spotlight, trading red carpets for muddy boots on a sprawling farm she shares with her husband, actor Thomas Sadoski. What started as a personal escape from the pace of Los Angeles has since grown into something much bigger, a full-blown animal sanctuary that has become just as much a part of her public identity as her acting career.

That farm life has produced no shortage of heartwarming and often hilarious moments over the years, from rescued donkeys finding their confidence to chickens showing up unannounced because, as Seyfried has joked, people just give them away. But one particular running joke on the property has recently taken center stage again, and it involves a flock of very confused-sounding peacocks.

Amanda Seyfried couldn’t stop laughing when one of her pet peacocks proved adjustable, according to a recent clip shared online showing the actress interacting with one of her birds. The 40-year-old actress keeps four rescue peacocks at the ranch she shares with Sadoski, all hilariously named Kevin, even though one of them ended up laying eggs.

That naming mishap fits perfectly within the chaotic, joyful energy that has come to define Seyfried’s farm over the years. The property, registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has grown to house more than 40 rescue animals total, including horses, goats, ducks, chickens, cats and a donkey named Gus who has slowly come out of his shell since arriving.

Seyfried has spoken candidly about just how central the farm has become to her sense of stability. Discussing her decision to relocate away from Los Angeles in an interview with SheKnows, she explained that the peace found in nature and the grounding energy of caring for her animals plays a major role in keeping her feeling sane amid the demands of her career.

That sentiment extends to how she frames the farm’s purpose more broadly. Speaking to Vogue earlier this year, Seyfried made clear the property is a genuine rescue operation, describing it as her dream and noting that the family works with a nearby caretaker to manage the ever growing number of animals in their care.

Sadoski has echoed that same passion for the sanctuary’s mission in his own interviews. He has described the work of providing safety and voice to animals who otherwise would not have it as something that feels particularly meaningful to him personally, a value he traces back to growing up around animals in Texas.

The couple’s animal advocacy has become widely recognized well beyond just their peacocks and donkeys, extending to horses, goats and a rotating cast of rescued creatures that continues to grow. Seyfried has been open about the less glamorous realities of farm life too, previously sharing that not every animal story ends happily, including losing one of their ducks to a fox.

Would you name all four of your peacocks "Kevin"?

Despite those harder moments, the overall tone surrounding Seyfried’s farm remains overwhelmingly joyful, and the ongoing saga of her four peacocks all sharing the same name has clearly become a fan favorite storyline. Between the egg-laying twist and Seyfried’s own genuine amusement at her animals’ antics, it is easy to see why this particular corner of her life continues to charm audiences online.

With Seyfried continuing to balance her acting career alongside her hands-on role running the sanctuary, moments like this latest peacock clip offer a rare, lighthearted glimpse into just how much joy the farm brings her day-to-day.
