The Hills are back, and things have definitely changed.

After 15 years, King of the Hill is making its long-awaited return, and Hulu has finally released the first trailer for the new season. The revival is set to premiere on August 4, and fans are already buzzing about everything they spotted in the trailer.

This time around, Hank, Peggy, and Bobby aren’t just picking up where they left off. According to Hulu, the Hill family had been living in Saudi Arabia for several years and are now retired. They’ve returned to Arlen, Texas, but it’s not the same place they left behind. The town has changed a lot, and so have they.

“Hank and Peggy Hill are now retired and return to a changed Arlen after years of working in Saudi Arabia; and Bobby is 21 and living his best life while navigating adulthood as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane,” Hulu shared in a press release.

Bobby’s all grown up and working as a chef at a trendy Dallas spot that combines German, sushi, and robata-style food. It’s not exactly Hank’s kind of place, especially since they don’t use propane.

Pamela Adlon, who still voices Bobby, said, “He’s become more centered and almost a little bit more like his dad.”

Mike Judge, the creator of the show, spoke at the ATX Television Festival back in May and gave more insight into what Hank’s dealing with now that he’s back in Arlen.

“Hank kinda liked that women were covered up and modest [in Saudi Arabia],” Judge said, as quoted by IndieWire. “He comes back and there’s a bike lane and a scooter lane. […] He’s looking at all the stuff that’s happened in the last 15 years, and there’s a whole world of things that would annoy Hank.”

Judge also explained why aging the characters made the revival work so well. “Because it’s such a grounded realistic show, it just felt right that they would be older,” he said.

The trailer hints at more surprises, like the possibility of Dale becoming mayor, but there’s still a lot we don’t know. What’s clear is that King of the Hill hasn’t lost its weird, dry sense of humor, and longtime fans are ready to see what comes next.
