Wenne Alton Davis, an actress known for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died after being hit by a car in New York City. She was 60 years old.

According to the New York Police Department, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call on Monday, December 8, after reports of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway.

Investigators said a black 2023 Cadillac XT6, driven by a 61-year-old man, hit Davis. She suffered severe trauma to her head and body and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the driver remained at the scene and was not injured. There have been no arrests, and the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate, according to Us Weekly.

Davis appeared in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in 2023, playing a cop in one episode. She also had guest roles on TV shows including New Amsterdam, Blindspot, Girls5eva, and Rescue Me. Born Wendy Davis in Durham, North Carolina, she later took the stage name Wenne Alton Davis. After moving to New York in her late 20s to pursue stand-up comedy and acting, she lived in Forest Hills, Queens.

Alongside her acting career, Davis worked in security at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Her agent told The New York Times, “She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge).”
