‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Smashes Critics’ Scores on Rotten Tomatoes
The Pitt Season 2 has officially arrived, and early reviews are pouring in ahead of the Thursday premiere. Critics have largely praised the new season, with Rotten Tomatoes initially giving it a perfect 100% score. While that rating has since settled at 94% based on 18 reviews, the response remains overwhelmingly positive.

Critics are impressed with how Season 2 builds on the first. Zach Pope of Zach Pope Reviews called it “PERFECT so far (episodes 1-9 reviewed),” while Ben Gibbons from Screen Rant wrote, “Once again, The Pitt proves it’s uniquely positioned as one of the most intense and impactful medical dramas on TV thanks to a spectacular cast, fast-moving story, and the incredible realism built in.”
Other reviewers also highlighted the show’s blend of drama and humanity. Steven Nguyen Scaife from Slant Magazine described it as “another carefully calibrated tapestry of chaos and humanity,” and Therese Lacson at Collider added, “The Pitt Season 2 ultimately doubles down on what made the series good when it first premiered — more heartfelt moments between the staff and their patients, more heart-pounding cases, and more surprise twists.”
Season 2 continues the show’s unique one-shift format, with each episode taking place over the course of a single hour at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. The new season jumps forward to Fourth of July weekend, opening the door for a variety of firework-related injuries. Fans can expect a familiar setting but with fresh stories and new medical challenges.
HBO’s first original medical drama has grown into one of the network’s most successful series. After a slow start, the first season gained momentum and became a global hit. It also performed strongly at the 2025 Emmys, winning Best Drama Series, Best Lead Actor for Wyle, Best Supporting Actress for Katherine LaNasa, Best Guest Actor for Shawn Hatosy, and Best Casting.
Despite the success, HBO has not officially renewed The Pitt for a third season. Casey Bloys, head of HBO Max, has suggested the show will continue for years, but Netflix’s recent acquisition of Warner Bros. has left some fans wondering about the show’s long-term future.
With early reviews praising the cast, the tension-filled medical drama, and its realistic storytelling, Season 2 looks set to keep fans hooked. Katie Doll from CBR said, “[The Pitt] Season 2 is a routine that doesn’t feel like a boring chore, but a luxury with all the right bells and whistles.”
Ricky Valero of Geek Vibes Nation added, “The Pitt is off to a roaring start that only promises to get better in each episode. With the brilliant tension built within the ‘Pitt,’ you get this electric atmosphere that inserts you in the middle of it all.”
It seems clear that Season 2 has struck the right balance for critics and fans alike. What do you think about the new season of The Pitt? Share your thoughts in the comments.
