The Pitt is Max’s first original medical drama, and it’s already making waves. The show started in January and just wrapped up its first season. It was a big risk for Max, but it turned out to be a big success. Now, fans can look forward to Season 2—and it sounds like it will be even more real and emotional than before.

R. Scott Gemmill, the creator of The Pitt, recently spoke to CNN about what’s coming next. He shared that Season 2 will follow real-world healthcare issues. One topic the show will explore is the rising cost of healthcare, especially for people with pre-existing conditions like diabetes.

Yeah, we had an expert today just to talk about the changes in availability of healthcare and how that’s gonna affect people, especially people of color with diabetes,” Gemmill said. “And, basically, if things keep going, it’s going to be just as bad, if not worse. It’s very disheartening, and so we try and do our best to bring that to the audience’s attention.

This kind of honesty and care is what made The Pitt stand out from other medical dramas. Many shows focus more on love stories or dramatic patient stories. But The Pitt wants to stay true to the real work that doctors and nurses do every day.

Noah Wyle, the star of The Pitt, also talked about why the show feels so real. He said that he and the crew wanted to create something that wasn’t already on TV.

Wyle explained that real doctors and nurses are on set to help during filming. They give feedback to make sure everything looks and sounds real—from the way doctors talk to the way they treat patients.
