The Power Rangers Are Coming To Disney+ with a Brand-New Series!
Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, the creative minds behind Disney+’s hit show Percy Jackson and the Olympians, are in talks to write, produce, and serve as showrunners for this exciting new project.
Power Rangers has been a beloved franchise for over 30 years. The first series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, premiered on August 28, 1993. It quickly became a huge hit and played a big part in the success of the Fox Kids programming block in the 1990s.
Over the years, Power Rangers has continued with multiple spin-offs and adaptations, keeping its fan base strong. The franchise also released two movies in the 1990s that were popular among fans.
In 2017, Lionsgate tried to reboot Power Rangers with a new big-screen movie. Although it had a loyal fan following, the film did not do well at the box office. It earned $142.3 million worldwide, but with a production budget of $100 million, it was considered a financial disappointment.
In December 2024, reports suggested that Paramount and Hasbro would be working together to create new Power Rangers content. Right now, it is unclear if this new Disney+ series will affect that partnership or if both projects will move forward separately.
For now, fans can look forward to seeing what Disney+ and the Percy Jackson team have in store for the next generation of Power Rangers!
