The Running Man – Official Trailer Drops: Edgar Wright’s Bold Take on Stephen King’s Classic Stars Glen Powell
The full trailer for The Running Man is finally here, and it’s already making waves. Directed by Edgar Wright, this new version of the story looks intense, gritty, and full of action. It’s not a remake of the old 1987 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Instead, it’s based more closely on the original 1982 novel by Stephen King, written under his pen name, Richard Bachman.
Glen Powell plays Ben Richards, the main character who ends up on a brutal game show where survival is the only way to win. Contestants get hunted down on live TV while the world watches. If they make it out alive, they get a big cash prize. But most don’t. The whole thing takes place in a broken-down future where the show is the biggest thing on television, and people are glued to it.
Edgar Wright, who made movies like Baby Driver and Shaun of the Dead, is directing and also co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall. Wright’s been thinking about making The Running Man for a while. Back in 2017, he tweeted about how much he wanted to do it. Now it’s really happening.
The cast has some big names. Glen Powell is joined by Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, and William H. Macy. Josh Brolin plays the producer who controls the show, and Colman Domingo is the flashy host. Everyone involved seems excited, and fans are definitely paying attention now that the trailer is out.
Filming began in the UK in November 2024 and wrapped up in March 2025. They even shot scenes at Wembley Stadium. The movie is being made by Paramount Pictures and supported by Domain Entertainment. Producers include Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, and Nira Park.
Paramount says this version sticks closely to the book. “It’s a much more faithful version of King’s original story,” the studio shared. That means it’s darker, more serious, and less over-the-top than the older movie. But there’s still plenty of wild moments, big action, and sharp visuals, things Wright is known for.
Along with the trailer, Paramount also dropped a brand-new poster to build up the hype even more. The look, tone, and energy of the movie are already getting fans talking.

The Running Man will hit theaters on November 7, 2025. That’s the same day Predator: Badlands comes out, so it’s going to be a big weekend for sci-fi action fans.
