Yes, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is now treated as one continuous, canon character across all of these projects, making him the first Netflix Marvel character to cross over into an actual MCU movie. Here’s how it all connects and the order to watch it in:

1. ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 (Netflix, 2016)

Frank Castle’s first appearance as the Punisher, introduced as an antagonist-turned-ally to Matt Murdock.

2. ‘The Punisher’ Seasons 1–2 (Netflix, 2017–2019)

His own spinoff series, exploring Frank’s war against organized crime and conspiracy after the deaths of his family.

3. ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 1 (Disney+, 2025)

This is the pivot point. Marvel officially folded the old Netflix shows into MCU canon here, Frank returns, largely in hiding, before teaming up with Matt Murdock to take down a group of corrupt cops using his skull logo. This appearance confirmed his prior Netflix history actually “happened” in the MCU timeline.

4. ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ (Disney+ special, 2026)

A standalone Special Presentation. Charlie Cox has said it’s set around the same time and place as ‘Born Again’ Season 2, so it slots in roughly alongside/after that season.

5. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ (2026 film)

Frank shows up as a supporting character opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Bernthal has said he worked directly with Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton to keep this version consistent with the Punisher of the Disney+ special, his words were that the character could “walk off of the Spider-Man set and… walk on to the special set.”

One wrinkle: Punisher does not appear in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2, despite that show being chronologically adjacent to both ‘One Last Kill’ and ‘Brand New Day.’ Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have both said this was simply a scheduling issue, Bernthal was busy shooting the other two projects at the same time.

Almost certainly yes, Marvel is clearly building toward more Frank Castle, though nothing is officially locked in yet. Here’s where things stand:

Bernthal wants to keep going, with one condition. He told Esquire, “I’m really down to keep doing more, but I think I have to be the one that’s making it.” He co-wrote and executive produced ‘One Last Kill’ alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green, so his push going forward seems to be creative control rather than just showing up to act.

A theatrical Punisher movie may be in the works. Green has said he and Bernthal are “very hopeful” about a full theatrical Punisher film, his words were that they want it to “go worldwide and be on screens everywhere,” though he stressed that’s ultimately Marvel Studios’ call, not confirmed yet.
