Daryl Dixon’s story in The Walking Dead universe is getting a new chapter, and this time, it’s heading to Spain. AMC has officially announced that Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on Sunday, September 7 at 9 PM ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. Along with the date, fans also got a first teaser and some new photos from the upcoming season.

After waking up on the coast of France in Season 1, Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, has been trying to figure out how he got there and how to get home. That journey led him through broken cities and unexpected friendships, raising questions about what “home” really means.

Season 2, titled The Book of Carol, brought Melissa McBride’s character Carol back into the picture. She was trying to find Daryl, while he was dealing with his decision to stay in France. That caused a rift between them. At the same time, the rise of Genet and her group, Pouvoir, created bigger problems, as they went up against the Union of Hope in a growing battle for the future of France.

Now, Season 3 moves the story to Spain. Daryl and Carol are still trying to get back to the U.S., but the road is getting more dangerous. Their path leads them deeper into chaos, as the effects of the walker outbreak continue to reshape the world around them. Each place they pass through brings new threats and new decisions.

Several new cast members will be joining this season. Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay have been added as regulars. Other new faces include Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, Greta Fernández, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, Cuco Usín, and Stephen Merchant.

The show is being produced by a familiar team. Scott M. Gimple, David Zabel, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Angela Kang, Jason Richman, Dan Percival, and Steve Squillante are all executive producers. Silvia Aráez and Jesús de la Vega from Ánima Stillking are also part of the production team.

New images and the teaser give a small taste of what’s coming, and it looks like Season 3 will continue pushing these characters in new directions.

Taking Daryl and Carol to Spain could breathe new life into the series. It’s great to see The Walking Dead universe stepping into fresh territory without losing what made it special.
