The White Lotus is packing its bags again, and this time the destination is France. According to Deadline, creator Mike White and HBO have chosen the country for the fourth season of the hit comedy-drama.

While HBO has not confirmed the news, the report says France will host the next chapter of the award-winning series.

Fans are already speculating about which resort will become the latest backdrop for the show’s mix of murder, satire, and luxury vacations.

Much of the buzz centers around the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a famous Four Seasons property on the French Riviera. The location is close to Cannes and has long ties to Hollywood.

Still, sources told Deadline that no final decision has been made. Like Season 3, which was filmed in Thailand, the production may use more than one resort. Thailand’s season used the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui as its anchor but also featured other hotels. France has two other Four Seasons resorts that could be used as settings: the Megève in the French Alps and the Hotel George V in Paris.

Cap-Ferrat would be a fitting choice since it matches the vibe of earlier seasons. The first three stories took place at luxury resorts by the water, Hawaii in Season 1, Italy in Season 2, and Thailand in Season 3.

Mike White even hinted that the new setting might shake things up. At the end of Season 3, he said, “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”

Season 3 premiered on HBO in February 2025 and was filmed in Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui from February to August 2024.

It had an ensemble cast that included Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, and Sam Rockwell, with Natasha Rothwell and Jon Gries returning from earlier seasons. Thai star Lalisa Manobal also joined the show, drawing attention worldwide.

The third season became the most-watched in the series, pulling in more than five million extra viewers compared to Season 2. Its finale had 6.2 million viewers across HBO and Max, making it the highest-rated episode of the show so far. The Thailand filming locations also saw a big tourism boost, with hotel bookings in Ko Samui jumping by 65 percent after the season aired.

Critics gave Season 3 mostly positive reviews, though some felt it moved too slowly and that the ending was weak. Still, it earned 10 Primetime Emmy nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series, and several acting nods for its large cast.

Now all eyes are on Season 4. Will France bring the same mix of glamour, dark humor, and shocking deaths? Fans will have to wait and see where the next White Lotus check-in takes them.
