Tim Burton’s Batman Movies Return to the Big Screen for One Epic Night
Tim Burton’s classic Batman films from 1989 and 1992 are making a big comeback in theaters for one night only on August 25. Fans can catch these remastered versions exclusively at Dolby Cinema locations across the U.S., specifically at AMC Theatres.
This special event will take place in more than 160 Dolby Cinema theaters and marks the first time both movies will be shown with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technology.
These upgrades mean viewers will see Gotham City in sharper colors and deeper blacks, while the sound will feel all around them, from the roar of the Batwing to the famous music by Danny Elfman.
Michael Keaton stars as Batman in these films, which also feature unforgettable villains like Jack Nicholson’s Joker, Danny DeVito’s Penguin, and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman. These movies helped set the darker, more serious mood for superhero movies that we see today.
Tim Burton shared his excitement about the new presentations, saying, “I hadn’t watched these films since I made them, and seeing them again with this level of clarity, beauty, color, and sound felt really new and exciting. Dolby Atmos and Vision brought it all to life in a fresh way.”
The screenings are also important for Dolby’s history. Back in 1992, “Batman Returns” was the first movie ever presented in Dolby Digital sound, which changed how movie soundtracks are experienced in theaters.
Michelle Maddalena, Dolby’s VP of global content and industry relations, said, “‘Batman’ and ‘Batman Returns’ remain seminal films in the history of the superhero genre. The new presentation in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos honors Tim Burton’s bold creativity while showing how far audio and image technology have come.”
Jeff Goldstein from Warner Bros. Pictures added, “Tim Burton’s acclaimed ‘Batman’ films deliver a dark, iconic vision of Gotham City that still shapes the superhero genre today. Dolby’s advancements transform these classics into brand-new experiences with incredible visual and audio quality.”
This one-night event gives fans a chance to experience these iconic Batman movies like never before, with stunning picture and sound that bring Burton’s Gotham City to life.
