Timothée Chalamet closed out his awards season at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday with a look that quickly became the talk of social media. The actor, known for his role in Marty Supreme, showed up in an all-white Givenchy suit with wide-legged pants and matching shoes.

Fans noticed the outfit reminded them of his 2018 Oscars ensemble, but reactions ranged from admiration to confusion. Some compared him to early-2000s boy bands, while others joked he looked like Colonel Sanders.

On X, one user wrote, “Timothée Chalamet stuns as Kevin from the Backstreet Boys,” and another responded, “Don’t you DARE disrespect Kevin Richardson like this.” Other posts were just as cheeky, with one saying, “He looks like a prom date who has really bad breath and didn’t order a corsage.”

The outfit and its reception were unsurprising given Chalamet’s recent behavior during awards season. He has drawn criticism for fully embracing the smug persona of his Marty Supreme character in interviews and public appearances. In December, he told a journalist, “It’s been like seven, eight years that I feel like I’ve been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances. This is really some top-level s****.”

Chalamet also sparked controversy in February when, during a CNN & Variety town hall with co-star Matthew McConaughey, he commented that “no one cares about” opera and ballet. His remarks were widely condemned by performers from both art forms, and several high-profile actors, including Jamie Lee Curtis and Nathan Lane, weighed in online.

At the Oscars, host Conan O’Brien poked fun at Chalamet in his monologue, joking, “Security is extremely tight. I’m told there are concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities. They’re just mad you left out jazz.”

Chalamet’s choice of a bold, unconventional suit seems to reflect the same confidence and risk-taking that has defined his awards season. While some fans celebrated his daring style, others couldn’t help but tease it online.

Chalamet’s fashion choices continue to push boundaries, even if they divide opinions. He’s not afraid to take risks, and that makes him one of the most talked-about stars on the red carpet. What do you think about his all-white Oscars look, genius or too much? Share your thoughts in the comments.
