Tom Holland Urges Fans to Catch New ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Footage in Theaters With a New Instagram Photo
Marvel Studios has spent weeks building anticipation for ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ theatrical return, using every available promotional avenue to remind fans just how significant the new footage tucked into the re-release actually is. That push has now extended to the franchise’s own cast members personally encouraging audiences to show up.
Tom Holland became the latest star to join that promotional effort, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo to his Instagram Story showing himself alongside Brie Larson on set, with Holland’s directive to fans making clear exactly what he wanted them to do next.
“Avengers Endgame is back in theatres with new footage. Make sure you check it out,” Holland wrote alongside the image, adding his voice to a growing chorus of cast members and directors pushing fans toward ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore.’
That messaging tracks with comments the Russo brothers have made repeatedly in recent weeks about just how essential the re-release has become to understanding ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ Joe Russo previously described the connection between the two films as critical, explaining that the new footage included in Encore directly illustrates that link for audiences ahead of December’s release.
The re-release itself adds roughly four minutes of new material, including an extended final scene and three entirely new post-credits sequences, none of which existed in the original 2019 cut. That footage was reportedly shot specifically during production on ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ according to Variety, turning the re-release into something closer to a direct narrative bridge than a simple nostalgia play.
The first addition extends Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s closing dance, which no longer cuts to black after their kiss. Instead, the couple continues dancing until a knock at the door reveals Loki, dressed in his post-‘Loki’ Season 2 Time Variance Authority uniform, seemingly there to address the timeline consequences of Steve’s decision to remain in the past.
A separate post-credits scene shifts to the Time Variance Authority itself, where Mobius, Casey, Ouroboros and Miss Minutes discover that thousands of universes are experiencing incursions, signaling a multiverse on the verge of collapse. Another sequence catches up with Bruce Banner, held in an underground bunker following events from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ just before Doctor Doom breaks into the facility and forces Banner to transform into the Hulk.
The final piece of new footage offers what may be the most pointed tease yet. The credits end with the same metallic hammering sound heard at the close of the original ‘Endgame,’ this time revealed to be Doctor Doom forging his mask, the exact sound Tony Stark once made while building his first Iron Man suit.
That auditory parallel draws a direct line between Robert Downey Jr.’s two MCU characters, reinforcing just how intentional Marvel’s storytelling choices have become around his transition from hero to villain. With cast members like Holland now personally urging fans to see the footage on the big screen, Marvel’s marketing strategy appears squarely focused on treating ‘Endgame Encore’ as required viewing rather than optional bonus content.
