Tom Holland is swinging back into the spotlight in a big way, and this time he is not just talking about the web-slinging.

During a recent appearance on the Spanish talk show ‘El Hormiguero,’ Holland teamed up with Zendaya to promote ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ and took a moment to share his genuine excitement about the wall-crawler’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The quote making rounds on social media has fans feeling optimistic ahead of the film’s theatrical release.

Holland stated that the future of Spider-Man is “really bright” and that there are plans to introduce “really exciting new characters,” while honestly admitting that the creative team does not yet know exactly how those plans will unfold. The candid enthusiasm in the comment lands differently knowing it comes mid-press tour, at a moment when the web-slinger’s long-term fate inside the MCU has been an open question.

The Madrid photocall at the Four Seasons Hotel on June 15 marked the first major joint public appearance for Holland and Zendaya since the 2021 world premiere of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and it officially kicked off a sweeping global promotional push for the film. Sony’s press tour is set to take the cast through Madrid, Shanghai, London, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Paris, Berlin, Rome, and New York, with the film also confirmed for a panel at San Diego Comic-Con next month.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Breaks Five-Year Record With Explosive First-Day Ticket Sales

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ picks up four years after the events of ‘No Way Home,’ following Peter Parker as he fights crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers him, with the pressure of watching his old friends move on sparking a physical change he may not be able to control. The film’s previous trailer made history as the first movie trailer ever to cross one billion views, reaching that milestone in just four days after its March release.

The star-studded cast assembled for the film is itself a sign that Marvel is treating this as a major event. Holland previously told GQ that he is currently in London filming additional photography for ‘Brand New Day,’ calling the new scenes “really, really fun” and noting that the team is “layering in a villain plotline in a new way” even though the film already works as a complete story on its own.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton, speaking about the franchise’s future, offered his own intriguing take by saying, “Is there ever a last Spider-Man? Everyone should go to this movie as if it’s the last Spider-Man.” Holland’s optimistic comments about what comes next stand in gentle contrast to those words, suggesting that while this chapter may feel definitive, the character’s journey inside the MCU is far from over.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to hit theaters on July 31, with the film marking Holland’s seventh appearance in the MCU as Peter Parker. If his excitement about what comes after this one is any indication, that count may not stop there.
