Top Gun Director Joseph Kosinski Reportedly Set to Rev Up Miami Vice Reboot

Exciting news for fans of action and style: Joseph Kosinski, the director of Top Gun: Maverick and Tron: Legacy, is reportedly in talks to direct a brand-new Miami Vice movie for Universal Pictures. This update was shared by trusted insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page.
The movie is still in early talks, but it already has some big names attached. Along with Kosinski as director, the script will be written by Dan Gilroy. Gilroy is known for his work on Nightcrawler, a dark and intense thriller that received critical acclaim. With Kosinski’s eye for visuals and Gilroy’s strong storytelling, this could be a powerful team-up.
Miami Vice was first a hit TV show in the 1980s. It was known for its cool style, neon colors, fast cars, and unforgettable music. It followed two detectives—Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs—as they took on drug dealers and criminals in the streets of Miami.
In 2006, director Michael Mann brought Miami Vice to the big screen with a darker, grittier version starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. Now, almost 20 years later, a new version could bring the franchise back to life for a whole new generation.
Right now, there’s no cast announced, and no release date has been set. Since the movie is still in the early stages, it could be a while before we see any trailers or official news. But with names like Kosinski and Gilroy involved, it’s safe to say that Universal is aiming to make this new Miami Vice a big hit.
