Pixar has officially shared a brand-new look at Toy Story 5, giving fans another early preview of the next chapter in the long-running animated franchise ahead of its 2026 release. The movie will continue the story after Toy Story 4, this time focusing on how Bonnie’s toys deal with a world where technology is becoming more important than traditional playtime.

Jessie will now take on a larger leadership role in Bonnie’s room while Buzz Lightyear remains by her side. The story reportedly centers around Bonnie becoming attached to a new tablet-like toy called Lilypad, a device that starts pulling attention away from the rest of the toys. The movie is expected to explore the clash between classic toys and modern technology while still keeping the emotional and comedic tone the series is known for.

Andrew Stanton, one of Pixar’s longtime creative figures who previously worked on Finding Nemo and WALL-E, is directing the film. Stanton is also co-writing the project alongside Kenna Harris. Toy Story 5 marks the first main Toy Story movie made without franchise co-creator John Lasseter, who left Pixar in 2018.

Several familiar cast members are returning once again. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Woody, while Tim Allen returns as Buzz Lightyear. Joan Cusack is back as Jessie, alongside other returning voices including Annie Potts, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Tony Hale, Kristen Schaal, Bonnie Hunt, and Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom.

The film also introduces several new characters and cast members. Greta Lee voices Lilypad, while Conan O’Brien joins the franchise as a character named Smarty Pants. Craig Robinson will play a GPS toy called Atlas, and Matty Matheson voices a peanut toy named Dr. Nutcase.

The newly released look at the movie has already sparked conversation online, especially because it teases a bigger focus on Jessie and the growing role technology may play in the story. Pixar and Disney have not revealed the full trailer yet, but the latest image offers fans their clearest glimpse so far at what Toy Story 5 will look like.

Toy Story 5 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 19.
