[Trailer] Josh Brolin Demands Answers in Chilling New Horror From ‘Barbarian’ Director
Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind the hit horror movie Barbarian, is back with a brand-new scary story called Weapons. The second trailer for the movie is now out, and it doesn’t hold back. It dives right into the deep fear many people share, the fear of children going missing. This isn’t your typical horror flick with ghosts or monsters. Instead, it focuses on something that feels all too real and disturbing.
The trailer kicks off with a tense scene at a school board meeting. Josh Brolin plays a desperate father, and he’s furious. He stands up during the meeting and demands answers. “I wanna know what happened in that classroom!” he yells. That one line sets the tone for everything that follows. According to the story, 17 kids vanished, all from the same classroom in a picture-perfect, all-American town.
Brolin’s character continues to push for answers, asking, “Why just her classroom!” It’s clear something isn’t adding up. Julia Garner plays the school principal, but she seems overwhelmed and nervous in the face of the growing panic.
Then we hear a child’s voice narrating. It’s haunting and sets up a bigger mystery. “This is a true story that happened right here in my town,” she says. “A lot of people die in a lot of really weird ways in this story.” That line hints that the missing kids are only the beginning of a much darker tale.
The trailer also shows some disturbing and bloody moments, including a man with a bleeding face running through a bodega. There’s chaos, confusion, and a growing sense that no one is safe. As Brolin’s character says, “Those kids walked out of those homes, no one pulled them out.” So now the question becomes, what made them leave?
Weapons was written by Zach Cregger himself. The cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Toby Huss, and June Diane Raphael. Cregger’s last horror film, Barbarian, was a surprise hit, making over $45 million worldwide on just a $4 million budget. That success clearly gave him the freedom to push things even further with this new project.
Originally, Warner Bros. had planned to release Weapons during Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in 2026. But according to reports from Deadline, the movie tested so well with early audiences that the studio decided to move it up.
It’s now set to come out on August 8. Warner Bros. is having a strong year with horror films, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners has already made over $363 million, and Final Destination: Bloodlines is now the highest-grossing film in the 25-year-old franchise with $280 million worldwide.
With that kind of momentum and early buzz, Weapons might just become another massive hit for the studio, and a terrifying experience for audiences everywhere.
