Venom Co-Creator David Michelinie Names Ideal Actor for Live-Action Eddie Brock
Venom co-creator David Michelinie has shared who he thinks would be the perfect live-action Eddie Brock. According to a post by @TheDoctorX11 on X, Michelinie believes actor Alan Ritchson fits the role perfectly.
The post explained, “I asked David Michelinie, Co-Creator of Venom, what actor would be a faithful Eddie Brock and I suggested Alan Ritchson. Here’s what he said: ‘I once posted pics of Ritchson—shirtless and one of him yelling—and said he’d make the perfect Eddie/Venom. So we’re on the same page.’”

Venom is already a live-action character, played by Tom Hardy. The character comes from Marvel Comics and first appeared in the 2018 film Venom. In the movies, Eddie Brock becomes bonded with an alien symbiote called Venom, and together they act as vigilantes.
They have faced enemies like Riot and Carnage. The character has appeared in four films so far, including Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), Venom: The Last Dance (2024), and even had a small cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
Tom Hardy’s portrayal of Eddie Brock and Venom has received mixed reactions. Some critics, like Matthew Rozsa from Salon and Stephanie Zacharek from Time, called his performance “wicked fun” and “fun to watch.”
Others were less impressed. Owen Gleiberman from Variety said Hardy acted like a “stumblebum method goof,” while Soren Anderson of The Seattle Times noted he was “usually excellent” but not this time.” Jake Coyle from the Associated Press added that he wasn’t sure if Hardy’s performance “adds up to anything” in the film.
Now, with Michelinie’s endorsement of Alan Ritchson, fans are wondering if we might see a new version of Eddie Brock that’s closer to the comic book character.
