Vin Diesel Hints at Groot MCU Sequel — Then Deletes It Fast

Vin Diesel might have just given fans a sneak peek at Groot’s next big Marvel adventure, then quickly took it back. The actor, best known in the MCU as the voice of Groot, recently posted an Instagram update teasing a sequel centered on the tree-like fan favorite.

But not long after it went up, he edited the caption and removed all mention of the project, leaving fans both excited and confused.

In the now-altered post, Diesel originally wrote, “So much to be excited about… Finally finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney… The Arbor King.” He followed it up by saying, “You all know the other films in process or upcoming, but something about the continuation of that beloved floral colossus just feels different.”

After some time, Diesel changed the caption, taking out the part about the Groot sequel entirely. No explanation was given, and Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything officially. So it’s unclear whether the project is real, scrapped, or still under wraps.

This isn’t the first time Diesel has talked about Groot’s future. Earlier this year, he mentioned Disney was interested in a film called Planet X, which would explore Groot’s return to his home planet. Nothing came of it, at least not publicly.

Diesel has been voicing Groot since Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters in 2014. He’s since voiced the character in nearly every major Marvel crossover, including Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

He’s also lent his voice to smaller Groot projects, like the animated Disney+ shorts I Am Groot, which released two seasons in 2022 and 2023. Plus, he appeared in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Still, fans are waiting for an official word. Marvel hasn’t said anything about Groot returning in any upcoming projects, including the next Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday. So far, it seems only Diesel has hinted at what’s next.

Whether this means The Arbor King is a real title or just an idea Diesel’s excited about, the quick deletion has only added more mystery to the mix. Until Marvel says more, fans will just have to keep guessing what Groot might be up to next.
