Vin Diesel’s Heartfelt Post About Michael Caine Causes Panic
Vin Diesel recently shared a touching message about his longtime friend Michael Caine, and it caused a wave of concern online.
The Fast and the Furious actor wrote about their decades-long friendship in an Instagram post, celebrating the bond that feels more like family than just friendship.
Diesel reflected on their appearance together at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, where Caine accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award on stage with his three grandchildren.
“The world saw me hand you a Lifetime Achievement Award this week. Your wife, daughters and grandchildren watching. What they didn’t see was everything else,” Diesel wrote alongside a candid photo of them.
Sir Michael Caine, 92, made a rare appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award by his friend Vin Diesel. “I’ve been blessed to call him a friend,” said the action star, calling Michael “a giant… a legend who still manages to stay… pic.twitter.com/6tYkunFAAB

He also shared how Caine helped him during difficult times, including coping with the loss of his Fast and the Furious co-star Paul Walker in 2013. “Twelve years ago, I lost someone I was not ready to lose… that the world was not ready to lose. You were there… not with words, but with purpose. You allowed me to play Kaulder. When mortality had its grip on my life, you brought immortality. The Last Witch Hunter wasn’t just a film; it was my resurrection,” Diesel wrote.
The actor highlighted how Caine’s family welcomed him like one of their own. “Whenever I’m at your house, I notice the walls. Only photographs of family. Not legends or movies, just family. That is not simplicity. That is a declaration. And once, in a room full of Nolan, Poitier and Hollywood royalty, you stood and introduced me as your son. Powerful moment,” he added.
Diesel concluded his post by reflecting on their shared journey. “We’re just two kids from nothing, dreamers who became something. You said I speak to the world, but Michael… you speak to eternity. I love you. Forever,” he wrote.
While the message was heartfelt, many fans misread it as a tribute after Caine had passed. Social media quickly filled with comments like, “Bro, you scared me for a second,” and “This made me think he was dead.” Others admitted they had to check online to confirm Caine was still alive. “Anyone else panic and Google to make sure Sir Michael Caine was still alive?” one user asked, while another added, “Man, I just woke up and I thought we lost him. Scared the s*** out of me.”
Fans will also get to see Diesel and Caine together again when they reprise their roles in The Last Witch Hunter 2, which is scheduled to be released in 2026.
