‘War of the Worlds’ Star Eva Longoria (51) Cleans Her Pool in a Sequined Gown and Heels, Gabrielle Solis Is Alive and Well!
Some celebrities treat everyday chores as a chance to show they’re just like everyone else, while others turn them into a full fashion moment. Eva Longoria has always belonged firmly in the second camp. Her latest social media post makes that point in the most glamorous way possible, and ‘Desperate Housewives’ fans immediately recognized the joke.
Longoria has spent nearly two decades as the face of one of TV’s most style-obsessed characters, Gabrielle Solis. The former model turned housewife became famous for her love of luxury and for wanting nothing to do with cleaning. ‘Desperate Housewives’ ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012, telling the stories of neighbors on Wisteria Lane, and it won several Emmys.
That backdrop makes her latest video land perfectly. Longoria posted a clip of herself cleaning her pool while wearing a glamorous sequined gown and heels, and she captioned it with a tongue-in-cheek line about finally doing housework 20 years after the show. The video was set to the ‘Desperate Housewives’ theme song.
The outfit does a lot of the comedy. Longoria wore an off-white, plunging, floor-length halter gown covered in sequins, along with sparkling jewelry and heels. She scoops debris from the water with a long-handled net, with the city skyline stretching out behind her.
Her hair is sleek, worn straight and pushed back, and the whole look suggests she’s about to walk a red carpet rather than fish leaves out of the water. The joke depends on the total commitment: no apron, no flip-flops and no hint that she’s doing anything unusual.
It also fits Gabrielle’s legacy. The character was famously allergic to chores, so the clip reads as a wink from an actress who clearly enjoys the role that made her a household name.
The response was immediate. Fans said they could practically hear Gabrielle screaming for Carlos, while others quoted a classic line about being so bored she almost cleaned the house. Some even begged Netflix to produce a new version of the show.
The reactions came from famous names too. Kerry Washington, who is producing a mysterious ‘Desperate Housewives’ reboot titled ‘Wisteria Lane’ that was announced last year, commented that she was obsessed. The official Disney Channel account also joined in to say it refuses to believe it’s been 20 years.
It’s not the first time Longoria has nodded to the character. She previously posted a red two-piece photo and referenced how, 20 years later, Gabrielle still knew red was her color. The running gag has become a small tradition on her feed.
Longoria’s life is far from all pool parties. She hosts the CNN travel and food series ‘Eva Longoria: Searching for France’, which premiered April 12, 2026, and has been renewed for a second season arriving in 2027. She also acts and directs, and she co-founded the studio and holding company Hyphenate Media Group in 2023.
She recently attended the Global Gift Gala Madrid on September 13, where she wore a form-fitted gold metallic gown with tiny sequins. As honorary chair of the gala, which raises funds for vulnerable children, women and families, she has made glamorous fundraising a habit. The pool video’s sequined dress is an easy echo of that look.
Her earlier work includes a recurring role on ‘Only Murders in the Building’ and guest spots on shows such as ‘Jane the Virgin’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’. She also runs the Eva Longoria Foundation, which supports Latinas.
