Warner Bros. Announces Release Date for ‘Gremlins 3’
Fans of the Gremlins franchise have reason to celebrate. Warner Bros. has officially greenlit Gremlins 3, and the film is set to hit theaters on November 19, 2027.
The announcement comes from Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav, signaling that the mischievous mogwai will finally be returning to the big screen after decades.
According to THR, Chris Columbus will produce and direct the new film. Columbus, who wrote the original Gremlins movie, is reuniting with the franchise after his recent work on the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club, also produced by Amblin. Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg will return as an executive producer through Amblin Entertainment.
Very few details about the story have been revealed. It is not yet known whether original star Zach Galligan will reprise his role or if a new generation of characters will take the spotlight.
This will be the first Gremlins film since Gremlins 2: The New Batch was released in 1990. In the meantime, fans have had animated adventures with Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and Gremlins: The Wild Batch, which premiered on HBO Max in 2023 and 2024.
With Columbus and Spielberg involved, the new movie promises to capture the spirit of the original films. As THR notes, this is shaping up to be a major holiday release, potentially even sharing the big-screen season with other family favorites like Snow White.
