‘Wasteman’ Trailer Drops Starring David Jonsson and Tom Blyth
A new trailer has just dropped for the upcoming British film Wasteman, directed by Cal McMau and starring David Jonsson and Tom Blyth.
The film promises a gritty, suspenseful story that has already started generating buzz ahead of its release. According to the official synopsis, the movie follows parolee Taylor, whose fresh start hopes are jeopardized by cellmate Dee’s arrival.
As Dee takes Taylor under his wing, a vicious attack tests their bond, forcing Taylor to choose between protecting Dee and his own parole chances.

Wasteman follows the story of Dee, played by Tom Blyth, and Taylor, played by David Jonsson, navigating a tense world filled with danger and high stakes. The cast also features Corin Silva as Gaz, Alex Hassell, and Neil Linpow as Robby, adding depth to the intense storyline.
The film is written by Hunter Andrews and Eoin Doran and produced by Bankside Films along with Agile Films, It’s All Made Up Productions, and Hoopsa Films. Filming took place during the summer of 2024 in London and Somerset, with some scenes shot at the historic Shepton Mallet Prison. Lorenzo Levrini handled cinematography, giving the film a raw and immersive visual style.
Wasteman had its premiere in the Centrepiece program at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and is set to be released in the United Kingdom on February 20, 2026.
Critics are already praising the performances. The Upcoming wrote, “In an immersive journey, Wasteman escalates from gritty prison drama to pulse-pounding suspense, powered by its remarkable co-leads firing on all cylinders.” RogerEbert.com added, “there’s a spark that the film gains from these two young performers that’s never extinguished.”
