A new documentary series titled Mr. Scorsese is coming soon, offering an in-depth look at the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Produced by Apple Inc. for Apple TV+, the series is set to premiere on October 17, 2025. It will be made up of five parts, giving fans a detailed exploration of Scorsese’s life and career.

The project had been in the works for several years before it was officially announced on May 21, 2025. Originally, director Rebecca Miller planned to make a single documentary about Scorsese, but as the work progressed, she realized there was too much to cover. “His work and life are so vast and so compelling,” Miller explained, which led to the decision to expand the film into a five-part series.

She described the project as “one of the defining experiences” of her career, showing just how meaningful it was for her to tell Scorsese’s story.

Mr. Scorsese will trace the filmmaker’s journey from his early days as a student at New York University all the way to his present-day work. The series promises to reveal personal insights and stories from throughout his life, thanks to the “unrestricted access” Miller was given to Scorsese’s private archives. This means viewers can expect rare footage, photos, and documents that haven’t been seen before.

The series will also feature interviews with many of Scorsese’s closest friends, family members, and creative partners. Big names like Robert De Niro, Mick Jagger, Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Thelma Schoonmaker, and more will share their memories and thoughts on Scorsese, giving a wide range of perspectives on his influence and legacy.

With Martin Scorsese being one of the most iconic directors in film history, this documentary is sure to be a must-watch for fans and film lovers alike. It will explore not just his movies, but also the man behind the camera, revealing how his personal experiences shaped his art.

Apple TV+ is backing the series, showing their commitment to producing high-quality documentaries that offer fresh and compelling stories. The release date on October 17, 2025, gives viewers something to look forward to as they prepare to dive deep into the life and work of one of cinema’s greatest figures.
