[Watch] ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Clip Shows Wild Face-Off Between Two Peacemakers

Fans finally got a taste of Peacemaker season 2 thanks to a brand-new clip shown on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. John Cena appeared on the show dressed in his full Peacemaker outfit to promote the upcoming season, and he brought along a special surprise.

During the episode, Fallon played a short scene from the new season. In the clip, Peacemaker comes face-to-face with an alternate version of himself. Things quickly turn tense when the alternate Peacemaker holds him at gunpoint. Our Peacemaker tries to make a run for it, but his double hunts him down. The two end up in a fight, setting up a bizarre and action-packed multiversal clash.

While the preview didn’t reveal much about the season’s bigger story, it did show the kind of humor and over-the-top energy fans have come to expect from the show.

Season 2 of Peacemaker will continue the story of Chris Smith after the events of the upcoming DCU film Superman. This time, the show takes place in the DC Universe, which is acting as a soft reboot of the old DCEU. James Gunn is back as showrunner and is writing and directing all eight episodes.

The cast includes John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, Tim Meadows, and Michael Rooker.

According to DC Studios, filming began in April 2024 at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, running from June to November. The season will premiere on HBO Max on August 21, 2025.

Speaking on The Tonight Show, Cena’s excitement for the project was clear. The short clip might not have given away much, but it was enough to get fans hyped. As Cena put it, “We’ve got something really fun coming, and I can’t wait for you to see it.”

James Gunn and John Cena also recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2 in New York on Wednesday night. Gunn explained just how important this new season is for the DC Universe.

“It’s a big part, definitely Superman leads directly into Peacemaker; it should be noted that this is for adults, not for children, but Superman leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker, it’s incredibly important,” Gunn said.

He also teased that fans should expect many returning and new characters: “Lots of guest stars coming up, lots of characters that are showing up that we’ve already met in Superman. I don’t think there’s anything that I’ve ever done that I love more than this season of Peacemaker, so I’m so excited for people to see it.”
