Following that established rhythm, episode 4, titled “Purchase,” is set to premiere on Sunday, August 16. As with the rest of the season, new episodes air on Adult Swim before becoming available to stream on HBO Max the following day, giving fans two distinct ways to catch each new installment.
The official synopsis for the episode reveals that Curtis and his team discover an addendum tucked within the historic Louisiana Purchase receipt, forcing them to race against both old enemies and unexpected allies to maintain control over the territory. That premise continues the show’s established formula of blending real historical touchstones with the kind of absurdist, science-fiction chaos longtime ‘Rick and Morty’ fans have come to expect.
The series follows Curtis alongside his staff, including Roe Banks, voiced by Stephanie Beatriz, and Special Agent Francis O’Doyle, voiced by Jim Rash, as they respond to threats ranging from secret government prisons to interdimensional diplomacy. Created by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, the show pulls Curtis out of Rick Sanchez’s shadow and hands him full command of his own bizarre corner of the franchise’s universe.
