The child actress who played the eerie girl in The Ring has had a far more active and successful career than many people realize. While she is best remembered for her role in the 2002 horror hit, her work extended far beyond that film before she eventually stepped away from Hollywood.

The movie The Ring became a major success when it was released in 2002. It quickly gained attention for its unsettling story and the now-famous image of a girl crawling out of a television set. The film follows a journalist, played by Naomi Watts, who investigates a cursed videotape that leads to the death of anyone who watches it within seven days.

The character of the mysterious girl, Samara Morgan, was played by Daveigh Chase. Her performance left a strong impact on audiences and helped make the film one of the most recognizable horror titles of the early 2000s. Chase only appeared in later installments through reused footage.

What many people do not realize is that the same year The Ring was released, Chase also worked on another major project. She provided the voice of Lilo in Disney’s animated film Lilo & Stitch. That movie became a huge box office success and developed into a long-running franchise.

Chase continued voicing the character in related television work, although she was later replaced in one sequel due to scheduling conflicts. Around the same time, she also appeared in other well-known projects, including Donnie Darko and the HBO series Big Love. These roles built a career that many young actors would consider highly successful.

Despite this early success, her presence in Hollywood gradually faded. Her last known acting work came in the mid-2010s, and after that she largely stepped out of the public eye.

Reports also show that she faced legal issues in the years following her departure from acting. These included arrests related to vehicle and substance-related charges between 2017 and 2018. Since then, she has remained out of the spotlight, with little public activity.

Looking back, her career included both a major horror icon role and a major animated Disney franchise role, making her early work especially notable in entertainment history.

This is a reminder of how unpredictable child acting careers can be. Someone can be part of two huge cultural films in the same year and still end up leaving the industry completely later on. It also shows how public attention often focuses only on one role, even when a person has a much wider body of work. What do you think about her career and what happened afterward?
