Why Michael B. Jordan Isn’t a Father Yet — His Honest Answer
Michael B. Jordan recently opened up about why he hasn’t started a family yet, giving fans a candid look into his personal life. The Hollywood star, who has been receiving praise for his performance in Sinners, revealed his thoughts during a teaser clip of Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman.
While playing darts with Letterman at a pub, Jordan shared that his daily life outside of acting is “pretty boring.” When the conversation turned to family, Jordan explained why he hasn’t had kids yet. “Nah, I want to start off small. I want to children. I want kids one day, but I gotta start off with like plants and dogs to see if I can, you know,” he said.
Letterman joked, “I see, plants, dogs then humans,” which made the two laugh. Jordan added, “There it is, you know what I’m saying. If I can take care of a plant I should be able to get a dog, if the dog is cool I have a shot.”
Jordan’s explanation sparked reactions on social media, with many fans pointing out that taking care of plants and pets is very different from raising children. One user wrote, “Someone tell him it’s nowhere near being the same thing.” Another commented, “Dogs and plants don’t ask a million questions by 10am lol.”
Others joked that kids are more challenging, saying things like, “Baby those dogs and plants don’t talk back like these teenagers,” and, “It’s not the same, these kids love talking back and they think money grows on trees.”
Despite some criticism, other fans defended Jordan’s approach, saying they understood the idea of starting with smaller responsibilities before committing to having children. Some even shared that they had tested themselves with pets or plants before starting a family.
Jordan’s reasoning shows he’s thoughtful about parenthood. Many people overlook the responsibility that comes with raising children, and starting small isn’t a bad way to prepare. What do you think about his approach? Share your thoughts in the comments.
