That name is Inde Navarrette, an actress who has spent the better part of 2026 shifting from a familiar supporting face into one of the industry’s most closely watched rising stars. At Disney’s D23 Expo in August, Marvel Studios officially confirmed she will play Rogue in its long-awaited ‘X-Men’ reboot, joining a cast that includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as the villainous Mister Sinister. Jake Schreier, who previously directed ‘Thunderbolts*,’ is set to helm the film, which is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028.
The casting effectively ended months of speculation that had circled names like Cailee Spaeny for the role, with Navarrette’s breakout turn in ‘Obsession’ ultimately winning out. It’s a significant vote of confidence from Marvel, placing considerable expectations on her shoulders as the studio rebuilds its mutant universe from the ground up following years of anticipation from fans.
Taken together, the acclaimed horror breakout, the expanding fashion portfolio, and the major franchise role waiting in the wings paint a picture of an actress whose rise has been difficult to ignore.
