Samara Weaving has had one of the busiest years of her career, and Paris is the latest stop. The Australian actress first returned to her horror roots in a sequel, then landed one of the biggest roles in Marvel’s rebooted ‘X-Men’ team.

Her year began with ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come,’ which premiered at SXSW on March 13 before arriving in theaters on March 20. It earned $42.9 million worldwide against a $14 million budget, and it later topped Hulu’s overall streaming chart.

Then came the news that shifted her profile. According to Deadline, Samara Weaving was chosen to play Emma Frost in the upcoming MCU ‘X-Men’ movie, after director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige met with a number of candidates. The role reportedly drew the most thorough search of any in the cast.

Now she has fans talking again with a more relaxed moment. Cinethology on X shared photos of Weaving walking through Paris, wearing a gray fitted T-shirt, loose black trousers and a green cap, and carrying a brown shoulder bag. The photos appear to come from a series of sightings on Saturday, the same day a gossip site posted a roundup of her out and about in the city.

The timing lines up with fashion season. Paris Fashion Week’s womenswear spring/summer 2027 shows run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6, so the city is full of celebrities attending shows and events. Weaving has a history with the event, having attended Louis Vuitton’s show in 2021 and 2022 and Bulgari’s collection launch in 2024.

Reports describe her public appearances as rare, so any new sighting tends to generate attention. Commenters on the photo roundup were already tying the moment to her new role, with one saying the Emma Frost casting feels spot on.

The sequel brought Weaving back as Grace, who has to protect her estranged sister while being hunted by five elite families. The cast includes Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood. It earned less than the original film, which made $57.6 million worldwide, but it found a second life on streaming after arriving on digital platforms on May 5.

That success builds on a career that has leaned heavily into horror. Weaving’s credits include ‘The Babysitter,’ ‘Scream VI’ and ‘Over Your Dead Body,’ and horror fans have known her for years. Her move to Marvel is a big shift in scale.

Weaving stood onstage at D23 to confirm the casting alongside Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister. She wore a white Vivienne Westwood minidress that nodded to Emma Frost’s icy look, with a diamond tennis necklace.

Since then, she has leaned into the part. She shared Instagram photos of herself reading Emma Frost comics, including her solo series and the Hellfire Gala stories, with a caption telling fans not to read into it. That has only fueled speculation about how big a role the Hellfire Club could play.

The ‘X-Men’ movie is scheduled to open on May 5, 2028, which leaves plenty of time for more teases. For now, a casual walk through Paris is enough to keep her in the conversation.

Weaving’s fashion moments also help make her visible to audiences outside the horror world. She went from cult genre favorite to the face of one of Marvel’s most iconic characters in a matter of weeks.

How excited are you to see Samara Weaving play Emma Frost in Marvel’s X-Men?
