‘Yellowjackets’ Final Season Trailer Brings the Survivors Home, but the Wilderness Isn’t Finished With Them
Few shows have turned a plane crash into appointment viewing quite like ‘Yellowjackets’. Since it first arrived in 2021, the Emmy-nominated psychological horror drama has followed a high school girls’ soccer team that survives in the wilderness, and the grown women haunted by what they did to stay alive.
The story has been building toward a reckoning for years. The third season ended with Natalie using a recovered satellite phone to call for help, which finally set the stage for the rescue fans have been waiting to see. It also left the adult survivors on a collision course, with Taissa and Misty making a pact to take down Shauna.
Paramount+ has now released the trailer for the fourth and final season of ‘Yellowjackets’, which premieres on Friday, November 20 exclusively with the Premium Plan. The footage follows an earlier teaser in October, and it shows the survivors back in Wiskayok, New Jersey. As the song ‘Ironic’ by Alanis Morissette plays over the footage, it is clear the homecoming is anything but a celebration.
The official description for the trailer says the survivors race to bury their sins before rescue arrives, but the Wilderness has its own ideas about who gets out. The earlier teaser carried a similar message, asking what the cost of getting home will turn out to be.

The third season finale, titled ‘Full Circle’, answered several of the show’s longest-running mysteries. The long-teased Pit Girl was revealed to be Mari, and Shauna was confirmed as the Antler Queen. Callie was revealed as the person who killed adult Lottie, and Callie and Shauna’s husband, Jeff, left Shauna.
That leaves a lot of loose ends for the final episodes. Shauna is more isolated than ever, Taissa is estranged from her family, and Melissa, who has been absent for much of the story, is expected to play a bigger role.

Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci lead the adult cast as Shauna and Misty, joined by Tawny Cypress as Taissa and two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank as adult Melissa. Warren Kole and Sarah Desjardins are also back as Jeff and Callie.
On the teenage side, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Kevin Alves and Jenna Burgess return, and Nia Sondaya has been promoted to series regular. Guest stars for the final season include Molly Ringwald, June Squibb, Elijah Wood, Devon Sawa and Dulé Hill.
Creators and showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson announced last October that the fourth season would be the last. The show had originally been planned as a five-season story, and Deadline reported that the creators were inspired by how ‘Succession’ went out on a high note after 4 seasons.
That decision gave the writers room to plan an ending rather than stretch the mystery thin. The show began on Showtime in 2021 with a dual timeline, cutting between the 1996 crash and the present day, and the final season is expected to bring both strands to a close.
Lionsgate Television produces the series, and Lyle and Nickerson serve as executive producers. With rescue finally approaching, the trailer points to a season that will juggle the survivors’ final days in the wilderness with the lives they built afterward, and with the secrets that came home with them.
The dual timeline has always been the engine of the show, and the trailer suggests the two stories are finally about to collide. The teenage survivors face the question of who gets rescued and what they will have to hide, while the adults face the consequences of everything buried since.
All 3 earlier seasons are available on Paramount+ for anyone who needs to catch up on the full story before the final season arrives on November 20. A trailer this ominous suggests that, for these women, getting out of the woods was only the beginning.
