Zack Snyder Unveils Haunting New Image of Jared Leto’s Knightmare Joker
Zack Snyder has once again taken fans back into the dark world of his Justice League universe. The filmmaker recently posted a new behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram, giving everyone another look at Jared Leto’s eerie version of the Joker from the Knightmare timeline.
Snyder often shares old production photos from his time working on the DC Extended Universe, and this latest post continues that trend. The image shows Leto’s Joker in his haunting Knightmare look, a version that first appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021. This Joker stood out from the one seen in Suicide Squad, trading flashy tattoos and slicked-back hair for a more somber and ghostly look.
When Snyder’s extended cut of Justice League came out, fans were surprised to see Leto return to the role after years of mixed reactions.
His earlier version of the character in Suicide Squad had divided audiences, with some praising his boldness and others calling it one of the weakest takes on the Clown Prince of Crime. But in the Snyder Cut, many felt Leto redeemed himself. His Knightmare Joker was quieter, more unsettling, and seemed to share a tense respect with Ben Affleck’s Batman.
Critics were still split, though. Some saw Leto’s short scene as a nice emotional touch for the Snyderverse, while others thought it didn’t add much to the story. Fans, on the other hand, were mostly thrilled to see the actor back in the makeup, this time in a way that felt more fitting for Snyder’s grim world.
