Zendaya made a bold fashion statement at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, The Drama, by wearing a wedding-style gown with a special twist. The 29-year-old actress chose to bring back her iconic 2015 Academy Awards white dress, giving the outfit a meaningful nod to her past.

Speaking with Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall, Zendaya explained, “This something old is from a very important look in my red carpet history, but I wore this look to the Oscars when I was 18 years old. It was a very important moment for myself, for my family, for my community and it just felt right to bring it back out and it happened to also be a wedding dress, so it was meant to be.”

The dress choice was a clever reference to the movie’s wedding-centered story. The Drama, written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, follows a couple whose relationship is shaken just days before their wedding when unsettling truths come to light.

Zendaya stars as Emma Harwood, a bookstore clerk from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, engaged to Charlie Thompson, a British museum director played by Robert Pattinson. The film also features Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates, Zoë Winters, and Anna Baryshnikov. According to A24, the film is set to hit theaters in the United States on April 3.

Zendaya also shared some insights about weddings and her personal style, jokingly offering dos and don’ts while gushing about working with Pattinson on set. Her choice to reuse such a significant gown added a touch of nostalgia while keeping the premiere’s fashion conversation fresh and exciting.

It’s always impressive when an actress blends personal history with film promotion, and Zendaya clearly pulled it off. Her wedding-inspired look sparked conversation and added extra depth to her red carpet presence. What do you think about Zendaya bringing back her Oscar gown for The Drama premiere?
