Strong performances were seen in Brazil (-16%), Germany (-18%), France (-27%), Korea (-27%), Australia (-28%), Spain (-28%), the UK (-34%), Italy (-38%), China (-45%), and Mexico (-46%).
According to Deadline Hollywood, Zootopia 2 was projected to make over $125 million in the United States and Canada during the five-day Thanksgiving weekend and $270 million worldwide.
The film exceeded those expectations, earning $158.8 million domestically and $560.3 million globally in its first weekend. Its worldwide opening was the largest ever for an animated film and the fourth-highest overall. In the U.S. and Canada, the three-day opening weekend total was $100.3 million. In China, the film grossed $271.6 million in its opening weekend and became the first Hollywood film to earn over $100 million in a single day on November 29.
Meanwhile, Universal, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 also had a strong debut. The horror sequel grossed $109.1 million worldwide, exceeding pre-weekend expectations. Its international earnings are estimated at $46.1 million from 76 markets. This performance is below the first Five Nights at Freddy’s film but above other horror sequels like Final Destination: Bloodlines and Annabelle Comes Home.
