Daniel Dae Kim is revisiting the end of Lost, the ABC series that wrapped in 2010 after six seasons of mystery, drama, and intense fan discussion. While the finale has often been criticized for not answering many of the show’s biggest questions, Kim says his reaction has always been more positive, especially when he focuses on the characters.

He explained that what mattered most to him was how the story brought the cast together at the end. He said, “I cared most about the characters, and the fact that the characters were all together at the end of the series was the thing that mattered most to me. And so I found that really satisfying because, as actors, we could say goodbye to each other in those final scenes.”

Kim played Jin-Soo Kwon throughout all six seasons of the show. His character’s relationship with Sun, played by Yunjin Kim, became one of the emotional anchors of the series. Even years later, Kim still highlights that part of the story as what made the show meaningful for him.

He also said he hasn’t gone back to rewatch the series yet, but he plans to. “I haven’t done a rewatch, actually, and it’s something I’ve been meaning to do. So I think it’s in my near future,” he said.

Despite later reports and discussions about issues behind the scenes, including allegations of bias in the writers’ room, Kim said his personal experience remains positive overall. He stated, “Lost really gave me opportunities that no other job had, and I don’t think I’d be here today without it. I think there were difficulties on the show — as we’ve learned — most of which I didn’t know at the time. But at the same time, I’ve made lifelong friends through that show. It helped my career in a way that no other job has.”

He also confirmed he still stays in touch with several cast members, including Harold Perrineau, Ian Cusick, and Josh Holloway, noting that the group bonded strongly during filming, especially those who shared early season storylines together.

Even 16 years later, Kim’s view of Lost remains rooted less in unanswered mysteries and more in the emotional closure of its characters and the friendships formed along the way.
