50 Cent Finally Names His All Time Favorite Movie and It May Surprise You
50 Cent has been part of Hollywood for a long time now. It has been almost 20 years since he stepped into acting with Get Rich or Die Tryin’, a film based loosely on his own life. Since then, he has built a second career outside of music and has appeared in nearly 30 movies. Most of his roles lean toward crime stories, action films, and serious dramas, which makes his taste in movies a little unexpected.
In a recent interview shared in the book You Gotta See This, the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, talked about the one movie he loves more than any other. Despite his tough image and recent horror project Skillhouse from 2025, his favorite film is not dark or violent at all. Instead, it is the 1995 comedy Friday.
While talking about watching movies during travel, 50 Cent said he keeps things simple. Just gimme a DVD player and a great movie, and I’m happy. When asked to choose only one film, he did not hesitate. Friday was his clear pick.
He explained that the movie never gets old for him. I could watch it anytime, he said, adding that it always makes him laugh, no matter how many times he has seen it. The film, directed by F. Gary Gray, stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as two friends dealing with one wild day in South Central Los Angeles.
What really stands out to him is the chemistry between the two main actors. He said watching them move in and out of trouble all day is what makes the movie so fun. It cracks me up to watch them interact, he shared.
Although Friday went on to become a full franchise, 50 Cent made it clear that the first movie is the one that matters most to him. He said the sequels were fine, but did not have the same energy. He also had high praise for Chris Tucker, saying Chris Tucker is my man and calling him an amazing comedian who can make him laugh just by reacting on screen.
Today, 50 Cent is more than just an actor. He is a major producer and business figure in film and television. In early 2026, he served as executive producer on the crime drama Moses the Black, which is set in Chicago and stars Omar Epps and Wiz Khalifa. He was also involved in the Netflix documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which focused on recent legal issues in the music world.
Fans will also see him back on screen later this year. He is set to play Balrog in the live-action Street Fighter movie, scheduled to be released on October 16, 2026. The film stars Jason Momoa and Noah Centineo and marks his return to big action roles.
Even with all his success and serious projects, it turns out that when it comes to movies, 50 Cent still loves a simple comedy that makes him laugh.
