Lionsgate is offering a movie experience unlike any other with its upcoming film The Long Walk. For a special screening, fans will have to walk on a treadmill at a speed of at least three miles per hour for the entire movie.

If you stop, you’ll be escorted out of the theater and you can’t watch the rest of the film, the source said, making the event an intense, immersive experience.

The Long Walk is a dystopian horror thriller directed and co-produced by Francis Lawrence. The screenplay is written by JT Mollner, and the film is based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel, published under his pseudonym Richard Bachman.

The cast features Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Josh Hamilton, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill.

The story is set in a dystopian United States controlled by a strict totalitarian government. Every year, a group of young men enters a walking contest where they must maintain a speed of at least three miles per hour. Anyone who falls behind faces execution. The contest continues until only one walker is left alive.

Cooper Hoffman stars as Raymond Garraty, while David Jonsson plays Peter McVries. Garrett Wareing takes on the role of Stebbins, and Tut Nyuot plays Arthur Baker. Charlie Plummer is Gary Barkovitch, and Ben Wang portrays Hank Olson. The large cast brings the brutal contest to life, showing the pressure and desperation the contestants face.

The Long Walk is set to be released in the United States on September 12, 2025, by Lionsgate. The treadmill screening gives fans a chance to physically experience a key element of the story, blending cinema and endurance in a unique way.

With Francis Lawrence directing and a talented ensemble cast, the film is already generating excitement. The treadmill screening adds an extra layer of intensity, allowing viewers to feel what it’s like to be part of the deadly competition in the movie.
