Dwayne Johnson has shared an update on the next Jumanji movie, confirming that filming will begin in November. The untitled sequel to Jumanji: The Next Level is scheduled to hit theaters on December 11, 2026.

The film will continue the story from the 2019 adventure-comedy, in which Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and others returned as their original characters. Awkwafina, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito also joined the cast in the previous installment.

The upcoming movie is expected to explore new challenges in the game and reveal more about the villain Jurgen the Brutal, whose player identity will be uncovered.

Director Jake Kasdan has been developing the project for years, though production was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Kevin Hart has confirmed that this sequel could be the final entry in the Jumanji series.

Lionsgate and Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions, are working together to bring the film to theaters.

Jumanji: The Next Level performed strongly at the box office, earning over $800 million worldwide on a budget of roughly $125–132 million. The movie received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a 72% approval rating. Critics noted that it retained the core elements of the series while introducing fresh content. Audiences were more enthusiastic, giving it a B− via CinemaScore and a 3.5 out of 5 average on PostTrak, with 58% saying they would definitely recommend it.

The new installment aims to maintain the fun, action, and humor the series is known for while wrapping up the story for longtime fans.

It’s exciting that the Jumanji series is returning, especially with the core cast and familiar energy. Fans have followed these characters through several adventures, and this final chapter could give the story a satisfying conclusion. Are you excited to see how the next Jumanji movie plays out?
