Aubrey Plaza Reveals This Is the Song She Wants at Her Funeral
Aubrey Plaza has shared a touching personal detail about her love for music and her admiration for a legendary performer.
The actress revealed that the first album she ever bought was Judy Garland’s 1961 live record, Judy at Carnegie Hall.
In an interview, Plaza said, “I’m pretty sure that when I was about 12, I bought my local music store’s entire stock of Judy Garland albums. I did a book report on her for school, so I started watching her movies and became kind of infatuated with her.”
“I thought it was pretty cool when Rufus Wainwright did his remake of her Carnegie Hall show. I mean, you’re never gonna compete with the greatest singer of all time, but it was a beautiful homage.” She said.
Plaza’s admiration for Garland goes beyond simply collecting her music. She revealed that she wants Garland’s iconic song ‘Get Happy’ played at her funeral. “I mean, I’d have to pick a Judy song for sure. I like the idea of this one because it’s, like, even though I’m dead, people could come together to get happy with each other. Does that sound weird?” she explained.
This choice reflects Plaza’s sense of humor and her desire to celebrate life even in death. The upbeat and joyful nature of ‘Get Happy’ is a fitting tribute to Garland’s legendary talent and her enduring influence on generations of performers and fans alike.
Plaza’s statement also highlights her deep personal connection to Garland’s work, showing how the actress has carried that admiration with her since childhood.
Plaza’s love for Garland is part of a broader fascination with classic performers and musicals, which has shaped her own approach to acting and creativity. By choosing such an iconic song for a deeply personal moment, Plaza emphasizes the power of music to bring people together and create moments of joy, even in unexpected circumstances.
