Vincent D’Onofrio Confirms Once Again He Wants This DCU Role

Vincent D’Onofrio is a familiar face in Hollywood, known for his roles in Full Metal Jacket as “Gomer” Pyle and as detective Robert Goren in Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

He also gained a large fan following for his portrayal of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, in the Marvel television series Daredevil.

While D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, but the actor has recently expressed interest in joining the DC Universe.

A year ago, during an appearance at Dragon Con, reported by @JeremyJLop on X, he spoke about his love for comic books and shared which DC character he would like to play. “I don’t know if you guys are into DC [Comics] like I am. Obviously, I’m into Marvel, too, because that’s my job. My comic books when I was a kid was Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp Thing, and Batman. So Swamp Thing.”

D’Onofrio recently reinforced his interest on X when a fan account asked whether he should play Swamp Thing. He simply replied, “Yes he should.”

Swamp Thing is set to appear in a gothic horror film exploring the character’s dark origins. James Mangold has been reported to be working with James Gunn and Peter Safran on the DCU project.

The film will draw inspiration from Alan Moore’s 1984–85 The Saga of the Swamp Thing comic book run. Mangold was confirmed to write and direct the project after completing Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) and A Complete Unknown (2024).

Despite the darker tone of Swamp Thing compared to other DCU projects, Gunn and Safran have confirmed that the story will still be interconnected with the wider DC Universe.
