Dave Bautista Won’t Tolerate *cough* on Film Sets
Dave Bautista, known for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune, is currently promoting his latest action-packed film, Afterburn, released last week. The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson and features a cast including Bautista and Olga Kurylenko.
Bautista, fresh off a cameo in Liam Neeson’s The Naked Gun reboot, spoke to Collider about his approach to working on film sets.
Bautista revealed that he has reached a point in his career where he refuses to work with difficult people. He explained that long hours on set can become miserable if someone on the team is unpleasant.
“Absolutely awful. [Laughs] I’m just at the age and at the point of my life where life’s just too goddamn short. I want to work with people I just love and respect, because I love this business. I love filmmaking, and if people don’t want to be there, I don’t want to be there with them,” Bautista said.
He added that his passion for filmmaking drives him to surround himself with positive, committed collaborators. “I want to be there, and I want to make the most of it, so I don’t want to hear people bit*****, complaining, moaning, and groaning about doing something that we’re all fortunate enough to be doing and making,” Bautista told Collider.
Afterburn marks another high-profile project for Bautista, who continues to balance blockbuster franchises with roles that let him express his personality both on and off screen.
Bautista’s stance is refreshing. Film sets can be high-pressure environments, and working with respectful, passionate people can make a huge difference in the final product. Do you agree with Bautista’s approach to only working with people he respects? Share your thoughts in the comments.
